In “Superficie Emotiva,” the figure does not appear as a clearly defined subject, but rather as a presence in transformation. The face emerges from the pictorial matter almost accidentally, as though identity and emotion shared the same substance.
The work unfolds within a suspended space between abstraction and figuration, allowing the viewer’s gaze to complete the form. The face is not entirely legible. This compels the observer to participate in the image, to fill the voids, to project something of their own into it. In that moment, the work no longer belongs solely to the artist, but becomes an ambiguous mirror, open to intimate and ever-changing interpretations.
Red moves across the surface like stratified flesh: not violently, but as a living, primal material containing density, warmth, and pulse. The layers of oil paint intensify this sensation of inner movement, as though something were still in the process of forming beneath the viewer’s gaze. It is not a representation of blood, but of the very substance of being before it becomes narrative.
Rather than telling a concrete story, “Superficie Emotiva” constructs a mental and emotional space in which the image continues to transform through the act of observation. A contemporary work with a strong visual identity, conceived not to provide immediate answers, but to leave behind a silent and persistent trace.
